Jameel Prize exhibition in Russia

London’s V&A museum will go on tour in Russia with an exhibition of Islamic art featuring ten artists and designers that were shortlisted for its international art award, the Jameel Prize. The prize is awarded biannually for contemporary designers and artists inspired by Islamic traditions in art, craft and design in order to widen global understanding of Islamic culture in the modern world. The exhibition, at the Hermitage-Kazan Exhibition Centre in the Republic of Tatarstan, comprises more than 20 artworks including Arabic typography and calligraphy, video installations and mosque-inspired fashion, all of which fuse contemporary and Islamic design.

Indian jewellery exhibition

An exhibition entitled – India: Jewels that Enchanted the World, will celebrate the history and grandeur of India’s craft in jewellery making. This exhibit is a joint effort between The State Museums of Moscow Kremlin and the Indo-Russian Jewellery Foundation, founded by diamond and jewellery connoisseur Alex Popov. It is being organised at the State Museums of Moscow Kremlin from 12 April to 27 July 2014.

Kremlin Museum Plans to Exhibit Nizam Jewels

The Moscow Kremlin Museum may exhibit jewellery from the priceless collection of Nizam of Hyderabad at an exhibition of Indian jewellery in the Russian capital [in 2014]. “A preliminary agreement has been reached with the National Museum in New Delhi. Talks are being held to present jewellery from the Nizam of Hyderabad collection,” said Elena Gagarina, director-general of Moscow Kremlin Museum.

Muslim Art: Allah’s 99 Names

Allah's 99 namesEven before its opening day, this exhibition was put on the list of the season’s main events. The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow offers an exhibition of classical Muslim art called Allah’s 99 names, which is to last from February 20th to May 26th 2013. The visitors will be able to enjoy masterpieces from the collection of the Marjani Foundation in Support and for the Development of Scientific and Cultural Programmes.

Islamic art in MoscowThe exhibition Classic Art of the Islamic World in 9-19th centuries: Ninety Nine Names of Allah was opened in Moscow. Galina Lazikova, the curator of the exhibition, told Vestnik Kavkaza about Iranian miniature art.
